Responsibilities Associated with free speech
Freedom of Speech does not cover:
Libel is the act of publishing a false statement that hurts a persons reputation.
Schools:
Schools are the exception when deciding weather something is constitutional or unconstitutional. Even though schools can and do restrict students clothes, inappropriate actions, and words, they still have to respect the first amendment of free speech. The courts defines speech as verbal expressions but clothes expressions. In 1969 during the Vietnam War the courts ruled that the wearing of armbands to support there opinois about the vietnam war was ok, and not allowing the kids to wear them was unconstitoutional.
Schools have the right to make the rules they believe is right because it is their property.
